Families Preventing Birth Defects (FPBD) is a 501 (C3) non-profit charitable scientific and public educational organization. Parents and families who have been touched by birth defects within their own families will be involved in the direction of the organization. FPBD is being formed to help ensure that more healthy babies are born. A family without a child born with a serious birth defect is a family helped. 

FPBD was established in order to participate in the forefront of the war against preventable birth defects. FPBD will use its resources to educate the population of eligible women, medical providers, and governmental health policy organizations, and advocate on the prevention benefits of folic acid. To this end, FPBD will serve as a clearinghouse for information and services, for families, and professionals, serving children whose lives have been touched by a serious birth defect. FPBD will seek to fund educational awareness projects, in print, radio, and broadcast media, intended to increase the alarmingly low level of public and professional awareness regarding the birth defect prevention benefits associated with adequate consumption of folic acid. FPBD will partner with allied groups to achieve these goals.
